Call for Symposium Committee Members
We’re looking for Symposium Committee Members. Interested or know someone who might be? Submit your application to symposium@
The Toronto Queer Film Festival is entering its fourth year in 2019 under the theme ‘Stonewall 50′.
Such a momentous landmark in LGBTQ+ history demands great attention and focus. To that end, we’re putting together a symposium of scholars, artists, and activists to dialogue around the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. The idea is to enhance the experience of festival goers and deepen their engagement around the theme.
‘Stonewall 50′ seeks to explore the role of the arts in queer liberation struggles – past, present, and future – from around the world.
TQFF needs a Symposium Committee to make this happen. Meeting regularly through the summer, the four-member team will organize and strategize to execute TQFF’s inaugural art and activism symposium. The committee will recruit speakers, and program talks, panels, and workshops in line with TQFF’s mandate.
We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds be they scholars, activists, curators or artists. The most important qualification is a commitment to the values of the TQFF namely:
- Community engagement
- Capacity building
- Resisting censorship
- Justice & Accountability
- Sex Positivity
- Fair (compensation for artistic product)
We welcome candidates from the LGBTQ+ communities especially those who are BIPOC, Trans and GNC.
