What are you willing to sacrifice in order to belong?

In the equally deadpan and heartwrenching universe of Avalon Fast’s CAMP, troubled young queer women find solace and community at a Christian grief camp by performing witchy girl rituals. Applying make-up together, holding hands, binge drinking, manipulating sensitive Christ-loving virgins – all to make their wishes come true and to glory the devil, of course. But how do they know the devil is so much better than Christ, and that their community is any more righteous than others? CAMP whispers no easy answers, but asks for an openhearted ambivalence for how marginalized communities are built and how women mourn their losses.

Before you join the coven, prepare yourself with a trip across the Atrato River in the slice-of-life short Kanekalon. Patiently observant and sensitively lit, the film finds a young trans woman feeling out her new life away from her caring family home, in a city where the threat of exclusion lurks everywhere even among the queer community.
